Music Hall returns to the Queen’s 19 December 2018

It’ll be a blast from the past packed with good tunes, great dancing and cracking jokes as the ever popular Queen’s Magnificent Music Hall returns to the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch, on Wednesday 19 December at 1.30pm, and this time, with a touch of Christmas!

In this tribute to good old-fashioned East End variety entertainment, forming part of the Magical Matinee Series, audiences will enjoy performances from musicians Mark Walsh and Laurence Payne, Opera singers John Rawnsley and Katie Milton, music hall favourites Kay Carman, Clive Greenwood, Magician and fire-eater Johnny Slap and the ever versatile comedy-actor Peter John.

Under the Musical expertise of Laurence Payne, hosting this fun-filled afternoon, with his ukulele, is your charming Chairman Mark Walsh, who has made a name for himself as gavel banger all over the UK and most recently, at the renowned City Varieties in Leeds. Hailed the world’s finest ukulele performer, Mark Walsh has worked with the likes of Danny La Rue, Donny Osmond and Don Maclean. Mark has been playing the ukulele banjo from the tender age of 8, finding his early inspiration in George Formby, and has released two albums. This fresh-faced musician has also appeared on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks!

Also taking to the stage will be bubbly, raven-haired Queen’s resident soprano Katie Milton, a familiar face with audiences, bringing the Magnificent Music Hall to the Queen’s throughout the last decade. Katie will sing operatic favourites O My Beloved Father, music hall ditties including The Honeysuckle and the Bee and popular Christmas songs including The Little Road to Bethlehem.

Ladling out the laughs will be Peter John, with impressions and cockney tunes galore, along with a special Christmas appearance! This multi-talented comedy actor is a veteran and varied performer – appearing in anything from Shakespeare to panto – and has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Music Hall Society.

Seasoned theatrical performer Kay Carman, who regularly brings you Down Memory Lane at the Queen’s, will sing your favourite music hall songs including Daddy Wouldn’t Buy Me A Bow Bow and you can enjoy and participate in her Christmas singalong treats!.

John Rawnsley, renowned Baritone  brings you popular tomes from The White Horse Inn and Johnny Slap will astound and amaze with magical mayhem, unicycling and fire-eating!

Popular actor and entertainer Clive Greenwood, last seen at the Queen’s as Chairman in Music Hall, will also provide much merriment with his hilarious comedy songs. Clive has also appeared on the West End stage, regularly at Hampton Court and has recently completed a UK tour in the Goon Show.
